The company celebrates its 65th anniversary.
SUDOP PRAHA a.s. is one of the oldest project-engineering organisations in the Czech Republic. Its history starts in the 1930’ when engineering departments were established within Czechoslovakian State Railways and the Ministry of Railways. The Railway Engineering Centre was established after 1945; after its merger with several other smaller organisations in the 1950s a nationwide engineering institute was formed, which was called Státní ústav dopravního projektování (SUDOP - State Transportation Engineering Institute) since 17. 11. 1953. At first, it was part of the Ministry of transportation, later it became an independent state enterprise.
In 1991 it split into several independent state enterprises according to regions. The legal successor of the original institute is SUDOP Praha s.p. On the 1 April 1992, it was transformed into a joint-stock company SUDOP PRAHA a.s. and privatised. The sole stockholder is SUDOP GROUP a.s.
